I am soooo lucky that my family has traveled to Northern Michigan for as long as I can remember. It is one of my favorite places ON EARTH! It is so naturally beautiful and basically has an ice cream shop on every corner (a vacation spot must, in my opinion!). It also has a ton of unique, independent shops, including bookstores galore.
Our recent “Awesome Authors” class focused on David Shannon. I had so many ideas! I really had to limit myself. Most of the kids were familiar with David Shannon’s work, especially the “David” books. Here is what we did…
I am always trying to introduce new ways of thinking to my class. This week, we focused on art. We read several books on art (see post here) and had several more for parents to look through and read to their children. We also created some fine art, if I do say so myself. Here is what we did….
Today we are going to talk about amazing mothers! I can’t wait! We are going to create fun crafts, books, and sing songs. I wanted to include some Spanish in the mix, so I created this very easy activity for the kids to do. On one side are the family members, mom, dad, sister, brother, grandmother, and grandfather, in English. After cutting out the Spanish words for each family member, the kids are going to match the words up and glue them on the table.
Enjoy, and Happy Mother’s Day!! Miss Jenny
Last week we had a really fun class involving art! I love introducing new concepts and themes to kids! I think that it challenges them in a different way and encourages other interests. I needed books on the topic, so here is a list of a couple that I picked up with a brief description. I was pleasantly surprised how many books there were about art that were geared toward preschoolers!!!
